Casio Releases Limited Edition EDIFICE Metal Watch
Designed in Collaboration with Infiniti Red Bull Racing

Special Model Created with Input from Infiniti Red Bull Racing Engineers and Mechanics

  • July 16, 2013

TOKYO, July 16, 2013 — Casio Computer Co., Ltd., announced today that it is releasing a new limited edition model in the EDIFICE line of analog metal watches—the EQW-A1200RB—to celebrate its partnership with Infiniti Red Bull Racing.

The limited edition EQW-A1200RB was created in consultation with the Formula One™ team, Infiniti Red Bull Racing, which Casio has supported as an official partner since 2009. The new model, which incorporates input from Infiniti Red Bull Racing Engineers and Mechanics and is based on the vibration resistant EQW-A1200, features sturdy sapphire glass. This makes the new model the most scratch-resistant EDIFICE model to date. The team colors of blue and red have been incorporated into the bezel ring, city codes, and second hand, and the team logo is emblazoned on the face, making this is a watch well worthy of the Casio and Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team partnership.

Just like the EQW-A1200, the new limited edition model has a compass function that operates with a small sensor. The Smart Access system also makes the plentiful functions a snap to use.

Christian Horner, Team Principal of Infiniti Red Bull Racing, had this to say about the partnership with Casio and the new watch: "Casio EDIFICE is a great partner to have; their desire to push technology and design is very much aligned with our own aspirations. This new Limited Edition Infiniti Red Bull Racing watch, the EQW-A1200RB, seems to be the culmination of our great working partnership. The watch's scratch and vibration resistant features are actually a result of observations made by Casio while spending time in the garage with Infiniti Red Bull Racing Drivers, Engineers and Mechanics who work in very tough conditions."

Driver Mark Webber commented, "I have always enjoyed the sleek design of EDIFICE watches but I live an extreme lifestyle between Formula One™ and all the outdoor sports I love. The durable crystal watch face on the EQW-A1200RB allows me to continue to maintain my active lifestyle without sacrificing the design I have come to expect from an EDIFICE watch."

Driver Sebastian Vettel remarked, "I like the fact that the new EQW-A1200RB was actually developed based on the interaction Casio had with Infiniti Red Bull Racing Engineers and Mechanics on site at races. So far I have really enjoyed every Limited Edition Infiniti Red Bull Racing watch from Casio EDIFICE but I do look forward to the EQW-A1200RB as it is designed for a tough and demanding environment such like Formula One™."

Commenting on the release of the new watch, Casio Managing Director Hiroshi Nakamura said, "For the new EQW-A1200RB, we took advantage of our close relationship with Infiniti Red Bull Racing and obtained more input from Infiniti Red Bull Racing Engineers and Mechanics. We are very pleased to be able to collaborate with Infiniti Red Bull Racing, a team that enjoys global popularity."

The new watch comes in special box packaging with a card featuring photos of RB9, the Formula One™ race car of Infiniti Red Bull Racing, and the team's drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel. This exceptional model has everything it takes to delight collectors.
